Hilda D. Higgins passed peacefully on August 11, 2015 at the age of 96. She was born on December 23, 1918.
Known as “Ruth” to many, she was a resident of Valley West Care Center for the last few years. A longtime Colusa County Resident, Ruth first lived in Sites where she worked in the post office and cared for her grandparents.
Later, Ruth moved to Maxwell where she was employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. She care for many Native Americans by shopping, delivering prescriptions and providing transportation to appointments. Upon her retirement in 1985, Ruth was known by many as a helping hand at the Williams Flea Market. She was very fond of the owners, Gyan and Sarvan Singh, her friends for many years.
Ruth loved to fish, hunt and enjoyed the outdoors. She most especially enjoyed sharing her wisdom and knowledge of plants with many family and friends.
Ruth has many cousins and friends that will miss her dearly – she will be remembered as a good friend to all.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parent Manilla Hart; her grandparents, William and Barbara Waddell.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the Williams Community Center (Formerly the Williams Veterans Hall), 9th & C Street. Requesting no donations, just come and celebrate.
Ruth will be buried in Colusa County with her grandparents, Williams and Barbara Waddell.
