IMG_7232Looking for a way to spend quality time with family and friends?

Grab your blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, and camp chairs and head out to the Colusa Fairgrounds for an evening of old fashioned horror stories that are sure delight all ages.

For those that can remember, and are lucky enough to have enjoyed the drive-in theatre in Williams can remember a lot of great classics watched on the big screen.

Fair CEO, Jonathan Howard, has brought back the nostalgia.

“This is going to be a great opportunity for the community to get together and for families to enjoy time with one another and build some memories too,” he said.

Family Movie Night will be held every Friday and Saturday evening and will feature classic “creature feature” films.

Located outside the Colusa Fairgrounds Community Center, the movies will begin at dusk. A grassy area for kicking back, or sit in the bleachers provided – there is a place for everyone. In the event of inclement weather, the movies will be screened at the Stagehands Theatre.

“We are showing classic creature features,” said Howard. “They are just good entertainment; a little scary but not too scary. They are classics that everyone can enjoy.”

Some of the films scheduled for the weekend screenings are:

September 18th – It Came From Outer Space
September 19th – Forbidden Planet
September 25th – Frankenstein
September 26th – The Fly
October 2nd – War of The Worlds
October 3rd – The Day The Earth Stood Still
October 9th – Creature From The Black Lagoon
October 10th – Godzilla
October 16th – House on Haunted Hill
October 17th – Invasion of the Body Snatchers

“Local businesses have been kind enough to sponsor this project and have made it possible for us to offer this free family entertainment,” said Howard.

Concessions are also available for purchase – hosted by a Colusa County non-profit organization. Should any Colusa County non-profit group wish to host a concession, please contact Howard at (530) 458-2641 Ext. 103.
