Colusa Pumpkin Village Gaining Momentum; will host 1,200 area students

Colusa County’s Pumpkin Village event will be held Oct. 21-25 at the Colusa County Fairgrounds. The event has grown to include attractions comparable to other larger area events. The first three days of the event will host area students.  Fair CEO Jonathan Howard commented that the response from area schools has been tremendous “So far we have 1,200 students scheduled to attend,” he said.

Colusa County students are invited for the first three days of the event. Schools received special invitations to hand out. With this invitation, students can visit the Village and pick a pumpkin from the Village Pumpkin Patch for only $5.00. They will also enjoy a free lunch. The lunches are being sponsored by Central Valley Gas Storage and Superior Tire Service.

“We really appreciate Central Valley Gas Storage and Superior Tire Service for their willingness to support this event,” said Howard.  As the number of students attending grows there is still room for an additional sponsors,” he added.

Saturday and Sunday will be Family Days. Village hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  There is free admission and free parking.

Howard said that the project has grown to include all except one of the attractions offered at out-of-county pumpkin patches.

Some of the attractions at Colusa County Pumpkin Village are; carnival rides, petting zoo, face painting, storytellers, hayrides, pick-your-own-pumpkin patch, harvest flavored treats, straw pyramid, hay maze, corn kernel sandbox, corn cannon, arts & crafts, rubber duck races, pumpkin sling shot and barrel train rides.

“This is the first ever Pumpkin Village hosted in Colusa County,” said Howard. “To make this a success we are still welcoming sponsors,” he added.

Community support; both business and individual is greatly appreciated. It’s a fantastic way to give back to the community. All sponsors will be invited to advertise on the fairgrounds and be listed as sponsors in event press releases.

“It is also a great way for area non-profits to benefit,” said Howard.

“Any Colusa County non-profit group or organization is invited to host harvest treats or food booths during the event”.
