Outdoor Movies Return to Colusa County Fairgrounds

Last fall the Colusa County Fairgrounds offered a series of outdoor movies shown on the weekends leading up to Halloween.  At that time, vintage “creature feature” films were enjoyed by the movie goers.

“We had a great time bringing this family event to our community,” said Colusa County Fair CEO Jonathan Howard. “We want to do it again now that the weather is great, and we are approaching Fair time,” he said.

Starting on May 14 the films will play every Saturday night until the Saturday before Fair opening June 9-12. The show starts at 9:00 pm and is screened on a screen outside of the Community Center Building.  The screen is provided to the fairgrounds by Steelhead Lodge Bar & Grill and Recology.

The movie themes are of course fair related. The scheduled films and show dates are: Saturday, May 14    “Ma & Pa Kettle Go To The Fair” sponsored by Supervisor Mark Marshall, District 3; Saturday, May 21    “State Fair”; Saturday May 28    “It Happened At The World’s Fair”; an on Saturday, June 4    “Charlotte’s Web”.

Just as it was in the fall, the movies are FREE, and concessions will be offered by the City of Colusa Fire Department.

Want to show your support for the outdoor movies? Individuals and businesses are invited to help sponsor to offset the costs of the royalty fee charged to the fairgrounds. If you are interested in sponsoring a film or have questions call the Colusa County Fair Office at (530) 458-2641. Names of each movie sponsor will appear on the screen and be acknowledged before the beginning of the movie.
