Vincent Eugene Walker (1931-2016)

OBIT - Vincent Eugene WalkerVincent Eugene Walker, 84, of Colusa, peacefully and at home, left this world on May 7, 2016 to be with his wife.

Walker was born September 18, 1931, in Anthony, Kansas, to parents, Louise Wanda (Gates) and Cecil Clifford Walker. He grew up in Kansas with his younger brother and sister. At the age of 16, he and his family moved to Colusa, where he remained for the next 68 years of his life.

After graduation from Colusa High School in 1949, Walker enlisted with the US Naval Reserves. Shortly after his discharge, he met his future wife, Concha Parlee (Aldama), at a family wedding where they each served the bride and groom as Best Man and Maid of Honor.

Walker was employed by Pacific Gas and Electric in Butte County in 1951, and then spent many years working at the Colusa District where the couple resided and raised their children. Walker retired in 1988 after 37 years and enjoyed traveling, reading, attending concerts and sports events, but most of all, spending time with his family.

Walker had a subtle sense of humor and was an Elvis Presley enthusiast. He could be counted on to play Elvis’s “The Wonderful World of Christmas” album every Christmas Eve. Sharing his lifelong enjoyment of music with friends and family brought him much happiness.

Walker is survived by his younger sister, Montana Tennis, of Chillicothe, Missouri, daughter, Marrissa Lynn Walker of Colusa, grandson, Asher Ryan Bowans of Colusa, his faithful canine companion, Griz, as well as many treasured cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Clair Walker, son Ryan Eugene Walker, and his beloved wife of 53 years, Concha Walker.

A pot-luck memorial luncheon will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 – 11:00 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 335 Oak Street (corner of 3rd and Oak Streets), Colusa, CA.

In Lieu of flowers, dog toys are appreciated as Griz works through the grieving process.
