Baby Shower Held for Expectant Mothers

2016 - Community Baby Shower-1Unlike traditional baby showers filled with games, and kitschy decor, Colusa County Held a community baby shower aimed at informing parents and connecting them with available service providers.

“Most parents do not know how or know of the services available to them,” said Carrissa Bowers, “We assembled those services and made them available in one place. It’s all about making connections.”

It was a busy day for the program representatives as the event was well attended.

The Colusa County Community Baby Shower was held at the CCOE Education Village Multi-Purpose Room in Williams.

The event also provided information to expectant mothers on area birthing centers.

“This year we focused on water safety, and third hand smoke,” said Bowers.

First 5 Colusa County Coordinator, Ginger Harlow commented that she was thrilled with the day’s attendance.

The Colusa County Community Baby shower was a cumulative effort between First 5 Colusa County, the Community Advocates for Parents and Children, and the Colusa County Department of Public Health.
