Kevin William Klewe (1978-2016)

OBIT - Kevin KleweKevin William Klewe, 37 and a life-long resident of Colusa, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 7, 2016.

Kevin was born with a birth defect that didn’t allow him to walk but that never stopped him from traveling all over town, day or night, in his bright yellow wheelchair adorned with many flashing red and amber lights.

Kevin volunteered at the Colusa City Fire Department, starting with work experience in high school and continuing to the present, nearly 21 years, often serving as the dispatcher at the station. He received two awards of appreciation for volunteer service.

On September 9, 1993, at the age of 15, the Colusa Mayor Frank Jaconetti delivered on a six-year-old promise to make Kevin honorary Mayor for the evening meeting of the Colusa City Council. “Mayor Kevin” conducted the entire 2 ½ hours meeting without a hitch and enjoyed every minute.

Kevin loved meeting new people as much as he loved visiting old friends. He enjoyed Musical Theater and stage plays. Kevin also enjoyed hunting and fishing or hearing a good story about hunting and fishing.

Kevin is survived by his mother Laurie Klewe of Colusa; sisters Karen Brown (Michael) of Colusa, Diane Lyon (Mike) of Willows and Marcie Studebaker (Dave) of Ft. Bragg and brother David Klewe (Tasha) of Hidden Valley; uncle Wayne Grishaber (Krista) of Williams, aunts Nancy Marshall (Mark) of Williams and Gayle Arant of Colusa; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Harold Klewe.

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1Thes. 5:16-18)

Kevin’s celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Colusa City Fire Hall from 9:00-11:00 a.m. located at 750 Market Street in Colusa.

Memorial contributions may be made in Kevin’s name to the Colusa City Firefighter’s Association at 750 Market Street, Colusa, CA 95932.
