Utility donates $25,000 toward 30K Trees Campaign and supports Sacramento region in CoolCalifornia Challenge
Pacific Gas and Electric Company joined Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson in support of two important green initiatives for the Sacramento region – the 30K Trees Campaign and CoolCalifornia Challenge.
To help ensure the Sacramento Tree Foundation and Greenwise Joint Venture meet the goal of planting 30,000 trees throughout the Sacramento region, PG&E pledged $25,000 to the campaign. The donation will go toward the purchase of 250 trees, as well as support staffing efforts of numerous tree planting events throughout the Sacramento region. In addition, PG&E employee volunteers will join the Sacramento Tree Foundation in planting hundreds of trees throughout the Sacramento region.
“PG&E is committed to being a good steward of the environment and supporting communities where we live and work,” said Ezra Garrett, vice president of community relations at Pacific Gas and Electric Company. “The 30K Trees Campaign and the CoolCalifornia Challenge will help beautify the city and reduce carbon emissions in the area. We commend Mayor Johnson for his environmental leadership and for furthering these two very important programs.”
Pledging to the 30K Trees Campaign is only the beginning of Sacramento’s green initiatives. Residents are also encouraged to join the CoolCalifornia Challenge, a competition between cities statewide to reduce the carbon footprint and environmental impacts of local communities. PG&E will hold numerous events throughout the region in an effort to share information about making a home or business more energy efficient.
