The Colusa-Sutter Transmission Line announced that Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) and Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) will reinitiate the public scoping period for the proposed CoSu Line Project in January of next year, and would like the public to be involved.
The WAPA and SMUD conducted a first round of scoping meetings late 2015 and early 2016 to take comments on the proposed CoSu Line. Based on the comments received, WAPA and SMUD determined that refinements to project alternative options appear to be feasible, fulfill the project’s purpose and need, and should be included for further review and public comment in the environmental process. These options range from slight adjustments to the previously identified study areas to considering a new 3,000-foot wide study area(s) to connect the California-Oregon Transmission Project (COTP) in Yolo County, ending near the Elverta substation in northwestern Sacramento County.
WAPA and SMUD are reinitiating the public scoping period in January 2017 and will host several public scoping meetings to discuss the project and receive comments during a 60-day public scoping period. According to the their website cosuline.com, public scoping information will be provided through local newspapers, on their website, direct mail to project area representatives, and email communications.
