A new fun-filled entertaining event will take on a Mexican flair in a way only Our Lady of Lourdes School can deliver.
Our Lady of Lourdes parents will hold its first pre-Cinco de Mayo Celebration for adults only at St. Bernadette’s Hall on Saturday.
“This is a new event much like the Oktoberfest, which was held in September,” said Marisa Apaseo. “The Pre-Cinco de Mayo Celebration was brought on by parents to help bring funds to our school.”
Apaseo said the group worked hard to bring the best authentic Mexican food, live entertainment and decorations that capture the ambiance of an true American Cinco de Mayo celebration.
Although Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862, Cinco de Mayo in the United States has become associated with Mexican-American culture.
Casa Lupe from Gridley will cook carnitas and chicharones for dinner.
The event includes musical entertainment by Mariachi Internacional Mexico of Sacramento, and a well-known DJ from Colusa, DJ X-Cell, will play all the hits from yesterday and today for the dance.
Tickets are $50 per person, which will get you an all-you-can-eat and drink experience.
The dinner will be held from 4-7 PM, and will include rice, beans, chips and salsa, and desert in addition to the main entrée. Drinks include domestic and imported beer, wine, and frozen margaritas.
The dance will be held from 7-11 PM.
“There will be lots of dancing, so bring your dancing shoes,” Apaseo said. “We also have some great raffle items.”
Tickets to the event will be available at the door, and everyone is encouraged to come out and support the school. St. Bernadette’s Hall is located at 745 Ware Ave., Colusa.
