Longtime Arbuckle resident Maxine Hamilton passed away on April 8, 2018, at the Californian in Woodland.
She was born Reba Maxine Whitmire to Thomas and Eula (Costen) Whitmire in Westville, Oklahoma, on Dec. 8, 1920. She was very proud of her Cherokee heritage. The Hamilton family moved from Herlong to Arbuckle, where Jack became the proprietor of the Arbuckle Machine Shop, and Maxine will long be remembered by the students of Pierce High School as the lunchroom cook.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents; brothers Tommy and Rodger; sister, Winifred Berk; and son John Thomas Hamilton.
She is survived by her son Richard and Sue Tuttle, of Arbuckle; Pat Hamilton, of Grimes; grandsons Scott (Heather), of Colusa; Justin (Deanna), of Willows; and Kyle, of Chico; and great-grandchildren Garrett and Joe, of Colusa; and Jack and Faith, of Willows.
Maxine gloated on all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.
Per Maxine’s request, no services will be held. Her ashes will be interred in the family plot in Susanville at a later date.
