Life… as I see it (05/23/2018)

I can say with solid certainty that I have held my last yard sale.

It’s too much work for the end results.

We sold a few things, but we still have a lot left. Today we will pack up the leftovers and sort them into save, give away, or donate. The next job will be to store or distribute items to the proper place.

The bright spot in all this is that I’m done. I don’t have anymore houses to clean out, nothing else to pack up. What I want to keep and take to North Dakota later is in storage.
Once the properties are sold, it’s a done deal. Amen!

Now I plan to enjoy the rest of my summer. We have a lot of things planned this year and I’d like to just do a few things I want to do.

I’ve worked since I was 13 years old. Now with yet another big birthday looming this fall, I feel as if I’ve earned a rest.

I don’t think I deserve it any more than anyone else, but I do feel as if I’ve earned a bit of leisure time.

Next week we will celebrate my Aunt Betty’s 80th birthday. We grew up more like sisters than we did as aunt and niece. I look at this fabulous woman and I’m just amazed. I’m hoping that since we’re from the same gene pool that I will age as gracefully and as beautifully as Betty.

I am delighted to be a part of her celebration, but mainly I’m blessed to have had her in my life all of these years.

God tends to give us people we need when we need them. I am certain that He sent Betty to me on more than one occasion when I needed here during my lifetime.

We all need those relationships in our lives.

Last night I watched clips from the royal wedding. Although it was very grand and proper I couldn’t help but notice the love of the family. I see in Prince’s William and Harry giving hearts. They would make their mother proud. Her kindness lives on in her boys.

That’s all any of us want. We want our children to be happy and to be decent human beings.

Life is good today. ■
