Life… as I see it (12/12/2018)

We celebrated granddaughter Lea’s adoption anniversary this past week. What a joy she is to all of us. The Craigo Clan was truly blessed when this darling little girl joined our family.

We’ve watched her grow from a chubby little toddler into a beautiful young girl of nine. Beauty that she is on the outside, it’s the beautiful spirit within that I most admire.

We are lucky in deed to have the precious gift of Lea among us.

We are becoming more and more comfortable in our home here in Beach, ND and in the community.

It’s all coming back to me why I love it here so much.

Simple things like bank appreciation day where we gathered this week for lunch and Christmas treats remind me of past events. Grandson Vaughn’s class sang at the open house. That in itself is special. The schools and the businesses partner to provide community events.

Small town life is a good life.

This past week I met a reader that has read my North Dakota column from about day one of my writing it. She said she felt a connection and seemed excited to meet me. I have to say it made my day. I’m no one special, but to have someone let me know I’m appreciative makes me feel special. It was my pleasure to meet Stacy.

It was a good day today. I’m loving being back in my home church. I’m thankful for the impromptu lunch we shared with longtime friend Bev (Auntie Bev).

Our friend Buster is recuperating from ankle surgery. We went to visit him today. That too was a reminder of how much I love this community and the people in it. Buster is one of my forever friends. We estimated today that we have been friends for at least 40 years. I suppose that at least one of us is getting old.

I’m thankful that Buster is healing . I’m especially thankful for the friendship we still share.

I learned today of the passing of a good friend and former pastor Konrad Koosman. Konrad was a good man and a good friend. We all have our path to go down. Konrad has seen a rough patch in recent years. Now he can rest. Bless him.

We have much to celebrate this week. There are family blessings, time to share with community and friends and rest for a life well lived.

Life is good today.
