It is with great sadness that the family of Phyllip Calhound Hager announces his passing on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, he was 88 years old.
Phyl was a graduate of Pierce High School and lived his entire life in Arbuckle, Ca, with the exception of two years he served in the Army as a rifle marksman, stationed in Germany. He served in the national guard as well. He was a longtime member of the American Legion.
Phyl had a deep love of family and helped to raise his nieces and nephews in his younger years. He had a profound respect and consideration for his bosses as well, Gilbert Ramos and Mike Kley, for whom he worked for the majority of his life as the Head Mechanic. Phyl enjoyed hunting in his earlier years and later in life enjoyed long rides in the country with his wife, watching wildlife, particularly the Eagles. He was kind to all who knew him and will be forever remembered as such.
He was proceeded in death by his loving and dedicated wife, Betty, of 36 years, as well as all six of his siblings and niece, Sarah. Phyl will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Glenda McHaffie, four grandchildren, Jimmy, Coty, Chelsea, Holly, and a great-grandchild, CJ. He is also fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Louis and Judy Schloesser, Loretta and Jake Wasburn, Christine and Paul Lindsay, David, and Amy Schloesser, and Dorothy Condry, as well as many more.
A celebration of Phyl’s life will be held at McNary-Moore Mortuary in Colusa, Ca, at 1 PM on Friday, January 11, followed by a reception at the Arbuckle Fire Hall at 3 PM. ■
