The California Highway Patrol arrested Robert Fimbrez, 27, of American Canyon for an alleged hit and run last week.
On Saturday, Feb. 23, the CHP said that Fimbrez was driving northbound on Interstate 5 and collided with a big rig while attempting to pass in the center median.
“The big rig was passing another big rig and for unknown reasons Fimbrez went into the center median shoulder to pass the big rigs at a high rate of speed,” said Officer Franco Castillo of the Williams Area CHP.
Franco said that investigators determined that Fimbrez sideswiped the left side of the big rig’s trailer and spun out of control in the center median.
“After the collision, Fimbrez regained control of his vehicle and continued driving at a high rate of speed,” Castillo said.
Fimbrez was stopped by a Williams CHP unit on Interstate 5 at Freshwater road and taken into custody.
The driver of the big rig, Dennis Pacheco, 22, of Redding was not injured.
Fimbrez was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, and a misdemeanor hit and run. He was booked at the Colusa County Jail. ■
