The Colusa RedHawks showed great skill in Friday’s game against the Pierce Bears with a win of 18-0.
RedHawk Christian Lyss was effective out on the field and with his pitching. Lyss was one of four pitchers, who not only racked up points, but also developed valuable experience on the mound as the team gears up for their grand finale.
“We were able to get a lot of guys (at bat) and a lot of guys on the mound; kind of good for us getting ready,” said RedHawks coach, Eric Lay. “We’ve got a big tournament next week and some important league games the last two weeks of the season, so it’s going to be a good three weeks.”
While the RedHawks were up to bat, several base hits to left field kept the Bears busy, but the Bears showed moxie, hustling to get under the ball. Unfortunately, by the time outfield got the ball to base, it was already runner occupied. The score didn’t reflect the effort put forth by the Bears.
The RedHawks have had a great run so far. Should they continue sharpening their talent and talons, they should be able to snatch up a hefty victory by season’s end. ■
