NOTICE OF VACANCY ON BOARD OF EDUCATION
APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT

Interested persons are hereby notified that a vacancy exists on the Board of Trustees for the Williams Unified District (“District”) as a result of the resignation of Rosa Orozco-Lopez, whose term of office expires with the November 2020 election.  The resignation is effective as of March 15, 2019.  The Governing Board desires to fill the vacancy by provisional appointment, drawing from the widest number of candidates, and must make the provisional appointment no later than May 14, 2019. 

APPLICATIONS:  Interested persons who are at least 18 years of age, living within the boundary of the District and registered to vote in the District, should complete an application available at the District office and at each school site and then return the application to the District office:

APPLICATION DEADLINE:  April 24, 2019.  All applications must be delivered by 5 p.m. on this date.  

APPOINTMENT:   The Board of Trustees will seek to make an appointment during a public meeting in May 2019, prior to the May 14, 2019 deadline.

TERM:  The appointee will hold office until the next general election in November 2020 and thereafter until the person who is elected in November 2020 has been qualified and sworn in.

POWERS & DUTIES:  The appointee will assume all powers and duties of a member of the Board of Trustees immediately following his or her appointment and the administration of the Oath of Office.
