After suffering a 12-3 loss to the Winters Warriors in an away conference match-up on April 23, Colusa looked to even the score last Friday on their home field. But the RedHawks watched the game slip away early against the Warriors long before reaching a 15-1 loss.
Colusa struggled to put runs on the board and a had a rough time defensively containing Winters. The RedHawks did contain the Warriors to a single run in the first and second innings, but Winters jumped to a 7-0 lead by the top of the fourth.
Braden Steidlmayer would be the only runner for the RedHawks to cross home plate in the bottom of the fourth, leaving a 7-1 score.
A fatal fifth inning would seal the fate of the RedHawks, as the Warriors placed a total of eight runs on the board and claiming an irrecoverable lead and win over Colusa, 15-1.
Christian Lyss took the loss for Colusa, surrendering eight runs on three hits over four innings, striking our four. Lyss, Steidlmayer, and Cody Free each collected one hit to lead the RedHawk offense.
Colusa holds a 20-7 overall record, 4-2 in league. The RedHawks final seasonal game is Friday, in Willows, with game time set for 4 PM. ■
