Love’s Travel Stop celebrates opening

Love’s Travel Stop in Williams celebrated their grand opening on April 23 with the Colusa County Chamber of Commerce, who helped welcome the long-awaited business to the community.

Although Love’s opened to the public a few weeks earlier, General Manager Brian Keith cut a ceremonial red ribbon to officially launch the truck and traveler center on Highway 20 in the local community.

“It’s been a long time coming,” Keith said.

Founded in 1964, Love’s, which is headquartered in Oklahoma City, is a family-owned business that has more than 480 Travel Stops in 41 states.

Williams officials, including Mayor Alfred Sellers and City Administrator Frank Kennedy, members of the Williams Fire Department, Selover’s Towing, Miss Colusa County Bailey Wilson, Colusa County Mini Miss Allison Traynham and many others from the community attended the celebration.

Sellers said the Travel Stop is a great accomplishment for Williams and thanked Love’s and the city staff for seeing it through.

The new Travel Stop has several restaurants and a convenience store, and provides professional truck drivers and motorists with 24-hour safe access to purchase gasoline and diesel fuel.

Sellers said the project started in 2014 with the purchase of the land, and got underway in 2016. Love’s is the first business inside Williams’ planned Business Park, which is expected to expand over the next few years.

“We’re heading in the right direction,” Sellers said. “Let’s keep the momentum going.”

During the ceremony, Keith presented a donation from Love’s in the amount of $2,000 to the Williams Volunteer Firefighters Association. Accepting the donation were the Williams Fire Pup and Assistant Chief Estaban Torres. ■
