Kittle’s Outdoor & Sports Company is known for more than the best place around to buy fishing, camping, and hunting gear.
The Colusa business also hosts events throughout the year involving the local community.
On Friday, Kittle’s gave the Colusa VFW a $2,000 donation from proceeds from their storewide sale in April, which was held in conjunction with their Cast & Blast on April 6, in which members of Colusa VFW Post No. 2441 opened the educational event in Veterans Memorial Park.
“I wanted a spring event for the store and surround that with giving back to the community,” said Pat Kittle.
The event included professional bass anglers giving a free seminar on bait tactics in nearby lakes (Cast). It also included a “Try Me Shoot” at Colusa Industrial Properties (Blast).
Kittle’s donated 50 percent of the store’s proceeds for the day to the VFW to recognize their service in the community.
VFW Commander Joe Bowers said the VFW appreciates the donation, which will be used to help support the Veterans Memorial Wall maintenance and to help sponsor bricks for families that can’t afford it.
Bowers said the group was happy to be involved in the event.
“It’s was a great way for us to get noticed,” Bowers said. ■
