UnitedAg opens new medical clinic

The Colusa County Chamber of Commerce, county officials, local agriculture leaders, and members of the community helped welcome UnitedAg to Colusa on Friday.

The agricultural trade association held its grand opening of their new health and wellness center, thanks in part to the effort of Garth Moore, a local UnitedAg insurance representative who felt the health needs of agriculture employers and their workers have long been neglected in Northern California.

The clinic is part of UnitedAg’s ever-growing network that serves farmworkers and their families, said UnitedAg CEO Kirti Mutatkar.

The new wellness center will provide UnitedAg members, their employees, and dependents with healthcare coverage through United Agricultural Benefit Trust.

“Our goal to provide access to many underserved communities around California and make it affordable,” Mutatkar said. “That is the reason we started this. We wanted to bring this innovative way of thinking to agriculture workers, who are underserved in California.”

The center will provide a range of services focused on the unique needs of the agricultural community, from acute and episodic care to health-risk and disease management to wellness and prevention, said Chris McDonald, chief innovation officer.

Emphasizing short wait times, no copay, and personalized care, the wellness center, located at 412 4th St., also offers its members on-site lab services and many available on-site prescriptions.

The new clinic hours are 9 AM to 6 PM Monday-Wednesday.
