Life, as I see it : And we’re off…

26

As I write, we are at a little hotel in Crescent City. There’s nothing quite like falling asleep and then waking up to the sound of the ocean outside your window. It’s my favorite place to be, second only to the mountains.

We’re going to stay here for another day so that we can rest up from all we’ve done in the last few months.

Tomorrow begins the journey back to North Dakota with stops along the way to visit family and friends. It will be another week before we get there, but I do love a road trip.

Aside from the two of us fighting some bug, we’re doing great.

Tom got it first, and now I am following. At least we can see each day what is to come next.

We’ll make it.

Even feeling rotten, we are happy to be headed to our beloved North Dakota.

The week ahead will be filled with adventure and sharing events with family.

Grandson Gunnar graduates high school and granddaughters Annalee and Jade will both celebrate birthdays. We are happy to be a part of these things.

As we plan this next chapter of our lives, we are feeling blessed. We will be able to share more with family. There comes a time in your life when you realize what has been important all along.

We all work hard. Sometimes we put our work before our family. In the end, we realize the job isn’t what matters most.

We have a home in California with a beautiful lake view. It’s nice. It’s what I always dreamed of having. It’s nice, but truth be told, I’d rather be sitting on my porch in Beach, ND, where I can see my grandkids ride by on their bikes. That’s what is really important.

Years ago grandson Vaughn told my daughter that they pick up grandma at the airport and then they take her back.

Life changes, goals change, and we finally see what we’ve really been working toward.
Life is good today. ■
