Westside major girls softball comes to an end

Summer softball has been in full swing, as the Westside Major Girls All Star team played their first game in Marysville against Sutter area on June 17.

Despite a hard-fought battle, Westside came up just short of the win with a 10-9 loss.

All Star teams for the Westside were formed by means of ballot votes. Little League managers from Arbuckle and Maxwell filled out a ballot with their top 12 players, considering all three teams and majority votes for a roster spot.

The combined team from Arbuckle Little League and Maxwell Little League consisted of  12 players: Maicey Hoebel, Angelina Alvarez, Edith Anderson, Ciera Fong Dye, Josie Ramos, Magali Jauregui, Allie Wills, Isela Ambriz, Hailey Regnani, Shelby Dunlap, Emma Hendrix, and Bailee Haywood. The team was coached by Trevor Dye and Jose Ramos. Jeff Hoebel served as the manager of the Westside team.

“We had a really great group of girls,” said Dye.

With the loss against Sutter area, Westside took to the field Friday night to compete against Peach Bowl. Peach Bowl came out on top with a final score of 14-2.

“We had a couple bad innings, but the girls played hard and never gave up,” Dye said. “I am proud of the way they played and their representation of Westside Little League.” ■
