Life has a way of repeating itself. This first week for us back in North Dakota has done just that.
For 12 years I was the Soil Conservation District clerk. Every spring it was my job to take care of the tree shed, sell trees, and make sure all was well in the shed.
This week I got to visit the refrigerated tree shed. Only this time, I was a customer. It brought back some memories being there in that cold wet place. Honestly, I’m glad I’m now the customer. I do still enjoy the smell of the plants though.
On Sunday, I saw my former boss, Dale, and I told him of my visit to the shed. Of course he asked if I cleaned out the shed before I left. Funny guy.
We’ve jumped right into yard work and landscaping anew here at the Beach house. I admit Tom has done the lion’s share of the hard work, but I’m a great director, as my friends will agree.
We went to church today and to our delight, the visiting lay minister was Diane Melby. We love Diane. She actually officiated our wedding. Before that, Diane was there for me and my family during my late husband David’s illness and death. She stood by me through that time in my life.
Visiting at coffee after service was also a highlight. I feel so at home in our church and surrounded by friends of so many years.
Over the years, we’ve laughed, prayed, and even cried together.
We don’t know how important people are to us until we’ve been away and then reunited.
Life for sure is good today.
