Life, as I see it: Honor and beauty

We were immersed in the beautiful and honorable Native American culture this past weekend. I traveled to New Town, ND with my daughters and grandchildren for the Little Shell Powwow.

New town is home to our dear friend Keith Bear, honorary Grandpa Keith Bear to the grandkids.

This year, we got to see Keith dance in two competitions. Grandsons Vaughn and Kohen even joined him for open dance in the arena once. They loved that Keith taught them the steps. He says the boys have it down.

We especially love going to the Little Shell Celebration each year. There is a strong feeling of community and family there. It may be a little smaller than some others but it is one to attend. If the opportunity ever arises to attend it, do it. You won’t be disappointed.

Today, we have church in the park with a potluck to follow. I love the casual comfort of worshiping outdoors in the midst of God’s creation.

It rained last night and it looks a little chilly, but all is good. Even if we have to move indoors, the spirit and fellowship is still among us.

We’ve discovered since moving to small town North Dakota that we are far more active than we once were.

As Tom and I both approach yet another “big” birthday, we are thankful for the many things we can still do.

As I always say, the key is to keep moving. It may ache a bit, but you’ll be better for it if you just keep going.

Life is good today.
