At about, 3:30 PM on Saturday, Aug. 31, six Rancho Cordova residents, and a Sacramento resident were injured during a head on collision.
According to the Williams Area CHP, Jose Garcia, 42, of Rancho Corodova, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on County Line Road at the Colusa Yolo county line. Steffan Rooney, 26, of Sacramento, was driving a 2018 Mercedes Sprinter Van, southbound on Highway 99w in Arbuckle.
“Garcia traveling westbound, failed to yield the right of way to the Mercedes traveling southbound on County Road 99W,” the CHP said in a press release. “The front of the Mercedes collided with the front of the Chevrolet and both vehicles came to rest on the south west corner of the intersection with major damage.”
The CHP said, Rooney, Garcia, and Gonzalez were wearing their seat belts. It is unknown at this time if the other parties were wearing their seat belt at the time of the collision.
Passengers of the 2004 Silverado include: Maria Reyes, 39; Guadalupe Reyes, 11; Jose Gonzalez 60; a five-year-old juvenile, and a person with a reported unknown age, Juana Rodriguez. All parties were transported to various hospitals with injuries ranging from lacerations to critical injuries.
