Nothing seemed to go right for Maxwell in last Friday’s football match-up against rivals, Biggs. The Panthers suffered their second loss in two weeks with a final score of 42-14.
With no first downs after the kick-off, Biggs opened up their offensive game with a 71-yard pass by Gregg Slusser to Andrew Wylie for a Wolverine touchdown. Maxwell came back rushing inside the Biggs 20-yard line but turned over possession on downs, placing the Wolverines on their own 17-yard line. Biggs’ offense continued to dominate, putting up a total of 21 unanswered points on the Panthers.
Biggs’ Shavon Gramps-Green put six on the board in the opening of the second quarter with a 5-yard rushing touchdown, followed by Carmen Jackson, on the Wolverines’ next possession, with a 25-yard rushing touchdown, widening the score gap over Maxwell to 34-0.
Maxwell’s quarterback Trent Hendrix connected with Nacho Velazquez at the end of the second for the first Panther touchdown of the game. Maxwell wouldn’t find the end zone again until late in the fourth quarter, with a 20-yard touchdown by Tony Lopez. With no time to lesson the gap, Biggs kept their undefeated status alive on the season, going 4-0 and pushing Maxwell to a 2-2 record.
