The new Grocery Outlet in Williams will open its doors to shoppers on Thursday, Sept. 26.
Cara and Chris Duncan, independent owners-operators of the long-awaited grocery retailer, will start unlocking savings during a grand opening ceremony that gets underway at 8:55 AM.
The first 200 customers of the day will receive Grocery Outlet BlissBucks gift cards (must be 18 or older) ranging from $5 to $200, and all shoppers will receive a free reusable bag, while supplies last.
“We’re very excited to be a part of the community,” said Chris Duncan, at a meeting of the Williams City Council last week.
Emeryville-based Grocery Outlet offers big savings on brand name products every day at more than 300 locations in California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington.
The store carries a full range of products from fresh produce, meat, deli, and dairy to a wide assortment of natural and organic choices. They also offer a large selection of beer and wine, health and beauty care, as well as seasonal items.
In addition to local customers, the new Williams store is expected to draw customers from all over Colusa County and beyond who typically travel more than 25 miles to shop.
At 9 AM on Thursday, the Duncans will present a $1,500 donation to First 5 Colusa Children and Families Commission, whose mission is to enhance the lives of all children, prenatal through age 5, through education, outreach, and systems change.
Beginning Thursday, Sept. 26, through Oct. 24, customers may also enter for a chance to win a grand prize of free groceries for one year. The grand prize ($100 per month for 12 months) drawing will take place at the end of the day on Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Williams Grocery Outlet. One entry per person (must be 18 or older) per day will be accepted. No purchase necessary. Winner need not be present to win but must claim the prize within three days of notification or another winner will be chosen, store officials said.
The Williams Grocery Outlet is located at 435 Vada Court, east of Interstate 5, behind Taco Bell. ■
