The Maxwell FFA members hosted their second Halloween Spook-tacular last Saturday at the Maxwell High School. Events included BMX races, pumpkin painting, carnival games, and a power wheel derby.
Senior event chairs Rocio Velazquez and Rosalyn Wilson oversaw the event. “It was fun,” said Velazquez. “The little ones enjoyed themselves, especially in the power wheel derby.”
Around 15 kids, ages 4-12, participated in the BMX race, and seven competed in the power wheel derby. Families and the younger community members played games for prizes and spent time decorating pumpkins supplied by the Maxwell FFA.
“The students on the committee changed the event this year and it went very well,” said Maxwell High Ag Advisor, Amber Charter. “We lucked out with the weather and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I think the event will gain popularity and momentum next year.” ■
